Privacy Policy

Last Updated: Nov 22, 2025

AskEd (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is an AI study coach designed to help students plan and learn effectively. We collect minimal data to operate the Service responsibly and to improve learning features. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices available to you.

Information We Collect

App usage analytics

Collected through Google/Firebase Analytics & Performance: screen views, session duration, device/OS information, and general in-app interactions. This helps us understand how the app is used so we can improve it. We do not sell or share personal data.

Crash data

Collected through Firebase Crashlytics: crash logs and technical diagnostics to help us improve stability.

Image-based inputs (optional)

If you use AskEd’s image-scanning or photo-based problem-solving features, the images you submit are processed to generate explanations or learning guidance. Images are processed securely and are not used to identify you. We do not store these images longer than necessary to provide the feature, unless you choose to save them in your study history.

Study history (optional)

If you choose to save notes, reflections, or study actions inside the app, this information is stored so you can review it later.

Contact information (optional)

If you sign up for our email list, we collect your email to send product updates.

Support messages

If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide.

How We Use Information

• Operate, maintain, and improve the app and website.

• Provide explanations, feedback, and learning assistance—including processing text or images you submit.

• Fix bugs and improve performance.

• Send important updates you opt into.

• Protect against misuse, including attempts to use AskEd for cheating or academic dishonesty.

Academic Integrity & Responsible Use

AskEd’s tools—including scanning and image-based help—are designed to support learning, not to replace your own schoolwork. We may use automated checks or safety systems to prevent misuse, including attempts to submit exam questions, graded assignments, or other materials meant to be completed independently.

We do not monitor your study content for grading or academic reporting, but we encourage all users to follow their school’s rules.

Data Sharing

We share data only with service providers who help us operate AskEd (e.g., Google/Firebase). These partners process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations.

We do not sell personal data or share it with advertisers.

Cookies & Similar Technologies

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies for basic functionality and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Your Choices

Opt-out of analytics

Use your device’s OS-level settings (e.g., “Limit Ad Tracking” or analytics controls) where available.

Email preferences

Unsubscribe at any time using the link in our messages.

Access or deletion

You can delete your study history from within the AskEd app or contact us to request access or deletion of your data where required by law.

Image features

If you don’t want AskEd to process photos, you can simply avoid using the scanning features. No image data is collected unless you submit it.

Data Retention

We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law. After that, we delete or anonymize it.

Image submissions are automatically removed after processing unless you save them to your study history.

Children’s Privacy

AskEd is designed for students but must be used in compliance with local laws. If you believe a child has provided information without the required permissions, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We take steps to protect your information in accordance with this policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will provide additional notice in the app or on our website. The “Last updated” date will always reflect the latest version.
